New online exhibition at Espai Carmen Thyssen

As we want to stay true to the usual way of presenting Carmen Thyssen-Bornemizsa collection, relating Catalan to International painting, this year we propose you Josep Amat’s painting as the main artist that connects with the masters of the French impressionism (Pissarro, Sisley, Guillaumin, Bonnard) and with other artists that have been influenced by these aesthetics (Gauguin, Dufy, Louiseau, Lebasque, Camoin, Potthast). 21 works of art have been selected for this online exhibition. We hope you enjoy it.

Amat cannot be defined as an impressionist artist, but he added some elements of this painting movement. There are four main concepts that can be related and can help us to understand his works. Three of them can be related to the painting, especially to impressionism: the light, the ambience and the instant. The fourth concept, the workshop on the streets, is the usual way of working of the artist. It must be taken into account that highlighting a concept doesn’t exclude the others. Painting remains always open to glances
