10. The Identity

Sant Feliu is characterised by its peaceful population and its quality of life. We must point out the personality of the ganxons, how the inhabitants are called, which is cheerful, genuine and friendly.

The town is full of identity, which we find in its special corners, like the local market. It provides fresh and quality products and offers a local trade in a welcoming atmosphere. We invite you to meet Sant Feliu inhabitants, while walking along the sea promenade or reaching the lighthouse and enjoying the views, the smell of the sea and the murmur of people. Do not miss the arrival of the fishing boats in the harbour early in the morning.

Stop a while and enjoy the balconies and windows of the Indianos’ houses (Spanish people who went to the Americas to make their fortune). Let yourself be fascinated by Ganxoneries: everyday anecdotes that tell the daily life of the ganxons in an ironic and comic way. They are known for some time now.

-If you go for a walk across Barri del Puig, you will find witnesses of the recent history: Refugi del Puig (a bunker of the civil war) and the Safareigs (the place where people hand washed their clothes in the past). These places reflect the fighting and tenacious personality of the ganxons.
