What is LumLab?
It is a Festival in which the treatment of light in multiple artistic proposals is relevant: interior and exterior spaces will play with light, colours and shapes to give a new image of the city.
Sant Feliu de Guíxols is a city with very visible identity features, which come from factors such as the sea, the rich heritage, the historical legacy, the people ... The Festival will highlight these features by focusing on the sea and the lighthouse, a dialogue between two identity elements that will help to deploy facilities in various parts of the municipality. Enjoy this first edition!

Sant Feliu de Guíxols is sea, it is coast, it is salty, it is seafaring, it is “brava” wild ... this is also the identity of LumLab. That is why we are inaugurating the festival with a spectacular action in the bay of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. We look forward to seeing you next Thursday 14th at 9pm on the sea railing, to live with the boats of the Llops de Mar Association and the Sant Feliu Nautical Club, a show where light will become the magic of the bay.

One hundred and fifty LED bulbs and their cables draw a salon lamp, 8m high and 8m in diameter, structured in three rings. It is a light and suspended structure a few meters from the ground, built with waste material from the textile industry and reusable elements. This unique object, due to its shape and the light it gives off, has the ability to transform the character of the space where it is installed. During the LumLab, the light will highlight the beach as a public space par excellence for coastal municipalities

An installation in which the light performs, live, by melting chocolate all inviting the public to taste it during the event. An installation inside a space with 4 focus of light 24 gigantic tiles of chocolate and projected the shadows of the chocolate melting towards the outside. The public will be able to enter in this immersive space to be able to smell and see the action of the light melting the chocolate and taste the result. Production Light BCN 2022

Dialogue is a participatory installation that invites us to reflect on the importance of dialogue in resolving our differences and generating debate and reflection. Dialogue is a metaphor for the importance of making all voices visible for a more balanced and attentive society. Two 10 meter long inflatable tongues that react through an interactive system connected to microphones that depending on the amount of sound, intensity, timbre and volume of the voices of the people on La Rambla are illuminated in time real. Passeig dels Guíxols is transformed into a large lighting installation that beats to the rhythm of the sea. The waves from the beach of Sant Feliu de Guíxols will put the soundtrack to this installation that will turn the pine trees on the promenade into more than 400 meters of light waves.

Archive 1890: temporary projections ”, is the project carried out by the second year students of the Artistic Baccalaureate and the artist Alex Pallí. This work is part of the “Creativa’t” project: curation and technical production of exhibitions, in which every year the students of the Institut Sant Elm in Sant Feliu de Guíxols are given the opportunity to participate in the organization of an artistic production and exhibition in professional hands. This year we have the opportunity to collaborate with the artist Àlex Pallí, born in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, with a long career in the world of audiovisuals and visual arts and with an experimental vision in screenings. His experience has allowed us to do a job combining his creative lines with our contributions. We had the opportunity to rediscover a building with a long history linked to that of the municipality: the Casino la Constància or Casino dels nois. Through this creative process we highlight the activities that have been carried out over the years, combining our creativity and the artistic vision of Àlex Pallí with what we have learned about the building, using in addition, the technologies we have at our disposal today.

Pictomappings are video projections of iconic pictorial works of art history. They give an insight into these masterpieces and the concepts they contain, in terms of augmented reality through mapping. On this occasion, the pictomapping of "The Garden of Delights" by El Bosch is presented. The work shows us, in an allegorical way, that the pleasures of life are ephemeral and the consequences are tremendous.

A light and sound installation inside the machine gun nest located in El Salvament. By means of a timer and at the established time, light and sound will be projected from inside and through the openings of the fortification. On the one hand, a set of five different colors - one for each of the five openings - and on the other, an initial sound of alert that will be transformed into a pleasant and harmonious melody. The transformation of the machine gun nest is the essence of the show: a building designed for warfare becomes a cry for peace and not a resounding one for war. The intention of this installation is to decontextualize the space and its use; where the bullets used to come from, now a vindictive light escapes.

In the work "Ciris" (2019), Gerard Mas has traveled the negative path of sculpture (the negative capability of Keats). Positivity is affirmed in calculation, construction, in the longing for novelty and perfection; negativity, on the other hand, is conjugated in deconstruction, suggestion, and indeterminate dialogue with mystery. Gerard Mas usually shows off his well-finished, shiny, polychrome checkers. Instead, this time he has chosen to present them in a state of combustion. The grimaces on his renaissance faces now melt into the irregularities of the melted wax. Mas is a very careful sculptor in the use of materials, which he molds according to the circumstance. Wax is the quintessential devotional material, the carrier of beliefs, fears and hopes. The artist is also attracted by the archaic symbolism of matter: the wax as a symbol of the body, fragile and deadly, which is enlivened by the warmth of the flaming soul.

Retrúcs - the sonic vibration that disturbs the light - is the installation conceived by the Nubölaris collective and the result of a tracking of echoes appeared by sympathy, which are achieved thanks to the amplification of sinusoidal waves of very low frequency within acoustic cavities. The structures that generate each cavity are illuminated by space as independent architectures arranged with windows. Almost strikingly simple, the composition engenders polysemous atmospheres and evokes microscopic landscapes occupying the flesh of the beholder. Who, as if taken, is inevitable, by the most secret desire, is linked to a chain of subcutaneous events that make dead skin, moth dust. Subjectivity is seduced, dissolved into fragility, and this is how subtle percussive force appears between the teeth. The windows flicker, the lights flash body and something beyond these elements attacks the witnesses with the suspended shot of a silence hidden behind the underbelly.
